In The Mood To Bake?

Want to bake something yummy?

When Aunt Sommer was here, not only did she show us how to make chef aprons, but she taught Sydney and Ava how to make Chocolate Chip Short Bread.

It is really easy to make but first be sure you have washed your hands.

Here is the recipe and you can try it at home:

Preheat oven 375 degrees.

1 stick of unsalted butter

1 cup flour

1/2 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 cup mini chips or chop your chips tiny.

Wash you hands VERY WELL.

Mix all ingredients well with your fingers.

Divide dough into 2 - 8 " cake pans. Press dough into pans. Bake 12 minutes.

Cut into wedges but leave in pans another 10 minutes to cool.

Tap out and break wedges apart.
Caution! Don't eat it all up by yourself before everyone else gets to tastes this yummy shortbread. Sydney's Mommy said it was the best ever.

Back To School Shopping

Shopping is something that many girls love to do and something that Rosie, Lily and Hailey might not get to do often as they like. So Macy's was having a sale last Saturday. I picked out some tops on Saturday and took the girls to pick out the bottoms the Following Friday. It turned out to be something quiet different.

The girls picked out a shirt they like while driving to Macy's and put them on.

Once inside Macy's, the sales lady, Jody, began to help them with selections and the girls went crazy. They each picked out 3 or 4 outfits and went back to the dressing room to try them on. Jody kept bringing more ideas and different sizes. Lily commented she had never shopped where the lady waited on them like this.

A couple hours later, the girls walked out with two new outfits each -- never even got the jeans or whatever for the tee shirts.

And of course, Rosie was starving so we went to the food court. They each tried several chicken samples but decided they wanted pizza. Then there was ice cream and we headed for home with our packages.

Isn't it fun to be home schooled so that you can take a break and go shopping?

Look Who Just Started To Kindergarten

Can you believe that Sydney is now in Kindergarten. Yep, Uncle Joel sent this picture.
I hope that Sydney will tell us how she likes her new school. What is your teachers name and who is your new friend?

We're Going to Disney On Ice

I have twelve tickets to The Tulsa State Fair and the Disney On Ice for Thursday evening, October 1, 2009. This is the opening night for the Ice Show -- and it might be the first day of the Fair. So you might want to plan to go again to the Fair to see everything you want to see.
We could meet early and look around at the exhibits if your want ----- or stay late after the show. But Thursday is a school night so depends on what your parents say.
Anybody want to go with me?

Papa and the Girls After Church Tonight

After Church tonight, we met Rosie and Lily in the hallway. They had on new duds so I took a photo. (Pops had on a new shirt as well.)
In church tonight we learned that if you have envy and strife, you are going to be confused and not know what to do. So, boys and girls, you better watch your words and speak peacefully. The words you say can bring sad things your way or if you say good words or God's words, you can bring joy into your life and home. Be sure to remind your Mommy and Daddy when they forget to think and speak good things.
Oh and another important part is that we must accept the God kind of discipline. If we get mad and pout, we are going to be in worse trouble. When you get disciplined, accept, learn from it and change the wrong things you think or say or do.
Can you tell me what you learned in church this week?

The Find It Game

Click on picture to see details better. Our children are growing up so my toys are trying to grow up with them. Getting rid of more and more of the baby things. Have to save a few for Blakely however.

Found this at Branson's Landing toy store for $19.95. However you can go on line and find them in your area and I notice they have different ones which contain different categories. I think we could also make our own.Posted by Picasa

The Scharfs Celebrate Back To School in Branson

Elijah, Lily and Rosie celebrated Kids Fest in Branson this past weekend before starting back to school today.
There was a moonlight madness where all the water rides were running and The Wildfire, Powderkeg, Thunderation, the Fire in the Hole, The lost river ride and Waterworks Waterboggan were opportunities to fly through the air and also get soaking wet. Although he was scared, Elijah conquered those triple loops where you ride upside down. The girls were not ready for that one.
Also there was a magic show by Peter Gossamer. Rosie volunteered and was selected. You can see her on the table with the green hat, with spikes running through her body. Peter warned her not to drink anything for the next two hours or she would leak badly all over. It was an illusion.
It was dark so the picture is not very good, but yes, that is Rosie on the table. You can click on the picture to make them larger.

They had all kinds of games to play also. While the young ones rode the rides, Papa and I played Tic Tac Toe.
On Sunday before coming home, we rode the Ducks. We rode on the land all the way out to the School of the Ozarks and then splashed into the lake at the Branson Landing. I'll have to admit that the Ducks at the Dells in Wisconsin was way more fun because there was so much to see at the Dells. For me just the splash in was the best part because Elijah and Lily got soaked again.
I'll have to admit that Branson in August is very hot. Thank God for air conditioning.
We plan to go back at Christmas time and we hope that Devin and Hailey will be able to go with us with their parents.

The place where the kids are sitting here is the old entrance way back when your Mommie and Daddie's were children.

Who Does God Have His Eye on?

God promises that HE will keep His eyes on his children and that He will hide us under the coolness of HIS wings. The Bible calls it "Keeping us as the Apple of HIS eye."

Can you tell who is the apple of God's eye in these two pictures? Of course God has HIS eyes on all of you.
