Snow at Ava and Carson's Home

I think this is their biggest snow ever.
And they have the perfect hills in their neighborhood.  So I know they had a great time playing in the snow at Christmas time.

Ava's Big SEVEN

Ava had a girls slumber party for her 7th birthday. But it was the kind were you did all the slumber party games and fun but when it is time to go to sleep, your Mommie comes and picks you up and takes you home. It looks from the pictures, that they had a lot of fun. Ava looks very happy. Thanks Ava and Aunt Sommer for sharing the pictures with us.

Scharpf Artists

The Scharpf family came over today to shovel our sidewalks and driveway.    God bless them.  Ken started on it yesterday but that is not so good for Papa.    So The five Scharpf's saved our necks today.  And they also brought thank you cards.   Thank you to our precious family.

Blakely is now 8 months old.  Sydney is almost six.  For Christmas the family have a new member, Sophie who is 6 weeks old.

Lily's Christmas Story for Papa

Lily wrote a book and gave it to Papa for Christmas.  He opened it this morning and Nana scanned it for you to enjoy.    Lily made Papa a book because he loves to read and he loves pets.

This is the story of Christan and her little cat Stripes.  Stripes is not so sure of Christans biggest Christmas Gift.  Papa loves the story because, his Christmas gift this year was Babe.

Snow in Asheville

Today is actually Ava's 7th Birthday and look what God sent for her. Twelve inches of snow. This is their back deck from the kitchen door and they live on hills so there is plenty of sledding and today Daddy will help Ava and Carson build a snowman. Aunt Sommer promises more photos. And Happy Birthday, Ava.
Ava had a tiny early party while we were there at the Fun Depot and then she had a kid's slumber party a week later (one where they did the slumber party things without actually spending the night.) and today she has SNOW!

Modeling Day for the Six Oldest Grandchildren

Back in November, Nana had the six oldest grandchildren over.  Dressed them in new clothes for modeling so that they could make some photos for their parents for Christmas.  We had to keep this a secret until after they had given their parents the gift.  Then they would received the clothing to keep.  They especially like the hats and vests.   It was a very fun day.   Perhaps the most fun was the leaf raking and playing in the leaves.

The Gift Exchange in Branson

After Silver Dollar City on Saturday evening, we had our gift opening.  Kayla had given me a photo from Grandparents day at her shcool.  I love it.  Also I got a garden ornament and Bonita gave me a red Cardinal.  It is beautiful.   Then the children had had a modeling day and made posters to give to their parents.  So they presented their gifts which they had made to their parents and after that, they got the clothes they had modeled in.   In the end, each child received a new pair of black Heeleys.  But before they could try them on, they had to read the safety instructions.  Some parents were happy for their children about the Heeleys and others were not so sure.   But the grandkids were happy.

Silver Dollar City or Bust

December 11, 12, 13, the Oklahoma grandkids got a trip to Branson and Silver Dollar City.  First evening, we went to Dicks 5 and 10 and bought something 'unique' for $5 or less.  Then after dinner at Garfields and seeing the light and water show, we had cobbler and ice cream at the Hotel and tried to guess who had picked out all the items from the 5 and 10 store.    Saturday we spent at Silver Dollar City.  It was very cold and it rained.  But we still had fun.

Ava's First Grade Class

On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Papa and Nana visited Ava's class.  They were having a Thanksgiving party.   Can you find Ava in the group?  How many Indians do you see and how many pilgrims?

Blakely at Seven Months

Uncle Joel sent me a new photo of Blakely at 7 months old.  Look, Aunt Jen has put up their Christmas tree.  The elves still have not arrived to put mine up.  I was hoping they would do it while I was out of town.

Gingerbread House Season

Asheville on Thanksgiving day.  These gingerbread houses are totally eatable.   Some were build by children, some by teenagers and some by adults.    All of these are winners.     Have you started on your Christmas Gingerbread house yet?    I bet you could make one this fancy if you tried.
